Reality TV

Reality TV - Love it or hate it, but you can’t deny its control over the nation, as a nation were hooked on everything from X Factor to Big Brother.  I am an addict, I don’t know why I am just fascinated with watching relatively normal people (crazy fools really).  I’m not ashamed of this I love every aspect of it and my current favourite shows are  X Factor, The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE), Made in Chelsea and Big Brother.

First of let’s start with Made in Chelsea, it’s something about watching these awkward situations that’s got me and my mates hooked.  Some people feel there to bright and knowledgeable to watch such shows, but I don’t care I’m unashamed to say I love it.  Something about these rich kids leading meaningless lives is very entertaining.  As far as I am aware they are all successful in their own right and sponge of there parents also.  This is currently my favourite TV show, I enjoy laughing at their pointless self inflicted predicaments and them pretending to be emotionally affected by them.  Even though I know it’s all not real and slightly pointless I’m still hooked and can’t wait till next Monday.

TOWIE is another reality show with rich kids living off their parents or being financially capable because of their parents to follow their dreams.  Some of the cast have done it for themselves, but these young adults are too rich for their own good.  There lack of general knowledge and pointless conversations has me in stitches.  I feel a part of me thinks people can’t really be like this, but I actually think they are being real and this is how they are.  The scary thing about the show is how these beautiful young girls feel they need to cosmetically enhance themselves in many different ways to feel confident.  The amount of Botox, fake hair, fake nails, and fake tan these girls use make me think is there anything real about them at all.  If we were to look deeper into it, maybe its how we have let our young girls down and let them become walking dolls rather than letting them use their brains and become the intelligent young women who they should be.  Even still I do watch every week and see what these people are doing and what predicaments they have got themselves in.

X Factor, the show which wants to find the next best singing talent, is must watch Saturday and Sunday TV.  The whole nation turns on to see these hopefuls try and prove themselves in front of the judges and the British audience's.  If you are not watching this year you are missing out there are some amazing young and old singers through to judge’s houses.  I enjoy seeing a person shine and do what they love in front of the nation, a part of me gets hooked to a certain act.  This year is no different I am in love with my Essex girls ‘Two Shoe’ and there crazy bubbly personalities.  Another reason that I like the girls is because they are not size 0, they are happy confident normal girls with amazing voices, I know they won’t win but I hope they do well.

Big Brother is back with another house full of wannabe's, this year they have filled the house with beautiful people so we can see how they interact with each other.  Not so hooked on this show, this year but I do love the concept.  I feel that they should have a greater mix of people and put normal people from different ethnic minorities in because I feel that would be much more interesting.  But like every year Big Brother has not failed they have chosen the most obnoxious person from an ethnic minority to represent us.  But hey if that’s what people want to see, I do love the show and the concept of the show.

There are so many other reality TV shows I will be here all day from Come Dine with Me to Jersey Shore.  Around this I also fit my normal life, blogging, going out and my family lol.

Laura Izibor

I first heard this amazing singer whilst watching an episode of One Tree Hill and thought she had the most amazing, beautiful voice.  She has an album out already which was released in 2009 and she is from Ireland and I can’t believe I had never heard of her before One Tree Hill.

Below is my favourite song she sings called Cant Be Love - (listen to it and fall in love with her voice to)

She also acts in the show One Tree Hill as a singer who is going through a tough time and Hayley discovers her and wants to manage her via her record label.  Her Irish accent is also amazing, if you’re not falling in love with her singing abilities your falling ing love with her accent.  She reminds me of one of my other favourite female singer Alicia Keys and I hope she is very successful and I am the proud owner of her album.

Spelling Mistakes/ Bad Grammer

I apologise to anyone who has read my blog posts and seen the poor grammar and horrendous spelling mistakes.  I have just read a few of my posts slowly and there are so many mistakes.  I think because I type so fast and read so quickly I must overlook them.

I’m sorry, but hey I guess all the mistakes make it mine...

France Niqab Ban

Freedom to dress how you wish...

Freedom to practice your faith...

So why ban the niqab, it’s not a new thing, Muslim women have been wearing it since they have arrived into western countries.  So why did it need to be banned, why is it now that it’s an issue, why are these women being taken to court and being fined for wearing it.  Islamophobia seems to have spread after the actions of a few have meant the whole Muslim community have been labelled terrorists.  Most of the Muslim communities in and around the western world are law abiding upstanding members of the community, so why should they be punished and labelled for the actions of a few.

What harm does wearing a niqab do to anyone, I have spoken to a lot of my friends about it that disagree and feel it is necessary to see someone’s face and identity.  What I ask is why? If this person does not want to show her face, be it for cultural or religious reasons, should she have to show it?  It’s her choice whether she wears a niqab and if it makes her feel safe and secure why should that be taken from her.

I also have an issue with politicians they have the time and money to waste putting such bans into place and enforcing them through courts of law.  This is the same country I visited and had homeless people begging and living on the streets and is operating in a financially unstable world.  This said it had the time and money to do this when I feel there a much bigger issues that need to be addressed like helping the less fortunate communities and using the money to help the country not enforce such ridiculous laws.  We drove into Paris and you could see that we were driving through very poor neighbourhoods on the edge of the city which needed regeneration projects to bring them up to a decent standard.

I am not saying I have all the answers but what I am saying is penalising women from dressing how they wish is in my eyes harsh and unfair.

Sad State of Affairs

Today I am a blogger who feels kind of useless...

Yesterday night I fell asleep after watching the Troy Davis case on the news (which may I say was very poorly reported and not given the time it deserved in my opinion).  As I turned the TV off and stopped tweeting, the news seemed promising that there was a halt on the proceedings and they were deliberating on what action was to be taken.  But then as I woke up this morning, I checked my twitter immediately and read #riptroydavis.  This news was so upsetting and I was so shocked that the US Judicial system would allow for an execution to take place when there was so much doubt around the case.  This man had been incarcerated for over 20 years and now was killed by the law for a crime which there was reasonable doubt that he actually committed.

The president of the country did not intervene with this as he was too busy being a policeman for the rest of the world when he needs to check the state of affairs in house.  This is the same country which is quick to jump into other countries over the most trivial matters but felt it was inappropriate to intervene in a matter in house.  This all does not sit right with me, because the person who actually killed the policeman could still be free and Troy Davis has now been put to death.  Even if they open up the case again now what justice will the family of Troy Davis receive a big 'sorry we made a mistake’?  I AM TROY DAVIS - in other words he could have been any of us, proven ‘guilty’ and then never really given the chance to prove his innocence when certain witnesses withdrew and cracks appeared in the case.  This all must have been brought to light in one of his appeal cases so why was it not looked at?

I drew comparisons with the film ‘A Time to Kill’, but that was holly wood it had a happy ending.  The line ‘can a black man receive a fair trial’ echoed in my mind.  Have America's views on justice really changed, has having a Black president really changed anything, are they still living in the olden days...

I am a member of amnesty international and they do so much good work highlighting cases like this and I wish on this instance they had received justice.  I wish on this instance all the hard work they put in would have been highlighted and rewarded.

But where the rich and powerful rule with their own agenda the poor must suffer...

RIP Troy Davis...
