Got Me Thinking......

I watched Clash of the Titans, did not see this in cinema because I heard it was not very good, but yesterday I bought it and thought it was a very entertaining film. I don't believe in Greek mythology, I think it is fascinating but I dont believe in it and from my previous post's i gather you would have realised I'm Muslim.

Then this film got me thinking have we come to and age where man thinks he is better than god? Was this a representation of society today where many chose not to believe in the scriptures and prophets of God?
I personally do find it hard to believe that people don't think God exists, I have grown up in a religious household and have many friends who come from different faiths and they all have faith in God. I also have friends who believe in nothing and always debate this matter, for debate is healthy to see other people views and why they have them.

Like this film I think people expect so much from God, and think why are there problems, there shouldn't be problems, everything should be wonderful all the time. But we are no longer in the garden of Eden, we are in a world where there is right and wrong and where the devil is free to try and tempt people into rejecting faith.  His greatest trick of making man think he doesn't exist seems to working.  I don't wanna force my views on people, but I have views and this film got me thinking about myself and my faith, do I pray five times a day everyday, no I don't, and I think I should as this is what god has asked of me.

The film goes onto say that the Greek gods need the humans prayers, but god doesn't need my prayers, I need them. I need them to purify my soul for each of us will leave this world alone, my faith and what I believe in needs them. He created this world and created me, if he wants he can create many more for he is the creator. Other people may have seen this film and thought nothing of it, but it got me and I think that may have been part of the message the director was sending out. It made me look at myself as a person and what more I maybe should do, in the form of prayer, charity and generally helping people where I can.
Also like the end of the film, the devil will lose and man will realise that they cant compete with the creator.  I have faith!

Amy Winehouse – The Damaged Soul

A soul that was lost...
A heart that was broken...
An individual who exposed her pain...
A shadow that never stopped following her...
A lyrically gifted musical genius...
Amy Winehouse was a talented young musician who couldn’t fight the pain so used alcohol and drugs to ease it, which may have been the reason for her tragic, untimely death.  Her music unlike some musicians was real, from the heart, dark and brought back faith in British music.  She was one of the biggest females to ever come out of the UK music scene and opened the door for so many more, her life documented to the smallest detail in the tabloid press and haunted by demons of her past.
We all have demons and it was in a way endearing to hear a musician release her demons in two amazing albums, ‘FRANK’ and ‘Back to Black’. For anyone who knows me they are aware I am a positive person who preaches optimism, but my favourite type of music is dark and depressing, I think it’s my way of keeping balanced.  I’m a huge fan of Hip Hop, R’n’B, Soul and music which doesn’t really fit a genre like Amy’s blend of soul, jazz and blues.
 When Amy first came onto the music scene she was an intelligent, fresh faced girl who focused her negative energy from her past relationship into a ‘Frank’ album.  With tracks such as ‘Stronger’ and ‘f**k me pumps’ to embed her into the British music scene a fresh new talent who got rave reviews from her peers.   Then she seemed to tour and disappear from the mainstream music scene for a while but when she came back, no one expected what she brought with her.
She brought an album so intense, so dark, so different, so emotionally charged with feelings, regret, neglect, addiction and truth it embedded her as a musical icon with the greats.  Her album was the most creative piece of musical genius of the decade and lyrically so real, you could feel her pain.  The album for me was amazing not one track on it was of poor quality, unlike other albums every track on this album could have been released as a single and would have been a hit.  It will stay cemented in musical history as a great for many more years to come.
Unfortunately Amy’s album was not the only reason she got so much attention, the album I feel was a cry for help, a way of telling the world she had her heart broken and craved some love and affection.  The tabloid media used everything they could to sell their papers; images of Amy falling out of nightclubs, her addiction to drugs and alcohol all seemed to overshadow her talent.  Not that they were totally to blame, we as a people became so infatuated with her life and what was happening to her.  We saw her on her mission to self destruct and her volatile relationship with a relatively unknown musician, who gained a lot of publicity from dating her.  There were images of her with marks on her arms, bruises, and pictures of her in the early hours of the morning looking bewildered and lost.  It was clear that she had gone too far and needed help as the situation she was in was highly dangerous.  We all watched but very few tried to help her, I can only imagine a person in that situation who has everything that she does not need easily accessible to her.   What if we had helped... would she have taken it... was rehab really what Amy was after or was it love...
The death of Amy was a great shock to me and a great loss to the music industry, an artist that I really wanted to see live but will now never be able to.  She was London, she was real, she was soulful, she was what she was and unashamed of it.
Ill end this with a few of my personal favorite tracks;

Lupe Fiasco

I have been lucky enough to see Lupe Fiasco perform live in the UK when he came and did a gig in Somerset House and let me just say this guy is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.  Must have been the best live act i have ever seen and i have seen a few including Jay Z, NERD, Kan Ye West, Anthony Hamilton, Boyz To Men, Foo Fighters i could go on but this guy blew them all out the park.  I am also a fan because he is a young American black man who actually has something to say, not hoochies, clips and drugs.  Loved this guy since his first album and above is one of my favourite tracks from his new album Lasers.

Lowkey

Lowkey one of my favourite rappers at the minute- You can hate him or Love him but you cant deny this guy is just REAL. A very educated young British Iraqi rapper, who is highly influential in the political hip hop scene.

Love Never Fails

Love ...

Compassion ...

Wealth ...

But Still we have;

Poverty ...

Death ...

Destruction ...

Why?

Because war keeps us going - the sale of weapons and ammunition - they say we have become more educated and more tolerant of others.  This cannot really be the case because we are still at war with each other and unable to listen to one another in a civilised manner.  We have genocides occurring now and no one is even batting a eyelid - Palestine, All over Africa, Kashmir... will it ever stop?

Because the poor must stay poor for the rich to get even richer, on a monetary system defined by a computer, where no one can physically see any of this 'money'.  The rich say they give this much money to charity, they give this much money to a certain country.  They are well aware this is not feeding the poor and needy its feeding the 'fatcats' at the top of the political ladder.  The money they give is making more mansions for the rich, not solving the need for education, water and food for the poor.  To me its another form of Oppression...

But saying this there are still those acts of compassion and love that give you hope in the human race because we are all one race lets get this clear.  Our ethnicity is just a label given to us by the rich and powerful to keep us hating each other, to enforce stereotypes, to divide us so they can rule.  I believe god didn't create us to be separate races we became them due to our inability to accept people who are different to us or share the same values that we have.

I am also hopeful when i see the uprisings in North Africa/ The Middle East, where tyrant rulers are being brought to justice by their own people.  Hope is what these people are after but i am also realistic and think one dummy will move and another dummy may take his place to rule countries of these brave, hopeful people, some of whom have died fighting for their cause.  I hope i am wrong and i have faith that everyone will see the truth if not now then in the future...
